Sweet Beginnings Do Arise

Hey-oh! First post in 2017! Time to get this blog caught up with what's happening in my life because one of the main reasons that I keep a blog is that... I like looking back at my old entries.

Day one of the new year, my Dad and I went to a mountain resort for brunch.

That Post About The Millworks

Here's something different in my blog. As a treat for my birthday last month, I went out for lunch with my Dad at The Millworks. Truth be told, I found this place through Google when I searched "hipster restaurants near me." So, thank you Google for the suggestion.

The place is huge enough to have dining indoors and outdoors, a full service bar, artist studios (a lot of studios), live music shows and a gallery that displays local artists' crafts which you can purchase!

The Happy List

  • My new Blogger theme!
  • I have recently finished watching Jessica Jones and it made me realize how I appreciate a good villain. Kilgrave (Jessica Jones), Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes) and Christopher Pellant (Bones) are definitely a favorite.
  • Cheap but great books on Barnes & Noble! $12 for 3 books, namely, The Greatest Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Great Tales of Horror and Joyland.
  • Finally settling an unfinished business from my previous employer.
  • Moved a few small furnitures in my room which made it look and feel a little different.
  • As some of you may know by now, a blizzard came to the East Coast this weekend leaving 2-3 feet of snow. It gave me the perfect excuse to go out and play. How cute is my BB-8! (Snapchat @jmichbio if ever you're wondering!)

Pittsburgh 2014

I was at Pittsburgh this weekend for my IELTS exam. The road trip lasted for 4 hours and I intend to make a video of that trip when I figure out how to edit all of it on iMovie, but I think the pictures will do for now. Downtown Pittsburgh was Instagram/VSCO worthy as you may see! Although, any place is Instagram/VSCO worthy if you only look close enough!

The first 4 pictures were taken inside Point Park University where the exam was held. Unfortunately, I had to wait two more hours after the initial exam because out of 8 people, I was the last to be interviewed! Fortunately, the uni was pretty homey! The first picture just screams the famous The Great Hall! What's not to like?

A chill, overcast day at Pittsburgh featuring a few of its buildings!

This beauty right here is made by Shepard Fairey a famous street artist from LA! He is known for Obama's presidential "Hope" campaign poster. I expect to see more of his work when I get to visit LA in the future!

The Wall Post

I've been recently spending most of my days at home studying for my upcoming examinations, and being concealed within these four walls, it is a must to keep it neat with colours. After weeks of sticking up things on my walls, they have now been adorned with flowers, sketches, a map, sticky notes and few memorabilia!

Those two heart sketches were made by my friends. A long time ago, I posted on twitter that I wanted a sketch of an anatomy of a heart because I couldn't make one for myself and they were kind enough to make one for me! The scratch map, I bought online. You get to scratch off the countries you've been to. Talk about a big lottery scratch-offs! The post its. As I have said, I've been "studying" and note taking is necessary. When I was still in college, preparing for major exams and the NLE, I wrote on long bond papers of various colours and post it on my bedroom walls. In that way, I can read my notes even if I'm getting ready to go out!

My walls are in constant change. I still haven't got my hands on some white frames for the sketches! I think that will do for now.
