That Post When I Went To Boracay in May 2012

Four score and seven years ago my family and I went on a trip to Boracay for 4 days and 4 nights. It was our first time visiting and we had a very pleasant experience. I still remember the laughter, the food, the heat, the fatigue from the travel. We rode a speedboat, banana boat, jet ski. Parasailed and zip lined. I got my hair braided on one side (wish I could do it myself), my cousins got henna tattoos. Simply put, we had a blast. Oh and I almost forgot, I celebrated my birthday there! Which means my birthday is just around the corner! HEHE Let's get on with the photos!

 At 2012, I was on my 3rd year in nursing school. I brought my laptop with me because I had a paper due for Philosophy (or was it Rizal?) Thank you, Alta Vista resort for the reliable wifi!

Questions I've been asked at least once in my life

...and the stories behind them.

I'm pretty sure you've been asked a question that's totally random it catches you off guard or even a simple question with an answer that changes the situation big time. Please allow me to share a few of my stories that begins with a... question. 

Did we take Chemistry together?

I was still in nursing school and I was in my uniform when I went to Starbucks to get a drink when the cute guy barista suddenly asked "Did we take Chemistry together?" while he was taking my order. I knew he was kidding because I could not have missed that sweet face in my boring Chemistry class. I was young but I must admit, he made my day. #landi

Kamusta love life?

I was parasailing with two of my older cousins. We admired the breathtaking view from above for a good minute when one of us decided to start a conversation to kill time, you know, ask the most intriguing question since you're up in the air and you have nowhere to escape to. "Kamusta love life?" my cousin asked me. "Yun ba yung tali? Naputol yung tali?," I replied. Guys, the rope that connects us to the boat -it snapped. We were flying with our parasail wing. Hidden into the clouds from the people on our boat, about to get blown into a deserted island and be eaten by dinosaurs. Luckily, we survived to tell the tale.

What's holding you back?

A guy I've been seeing asked. I guess it didn't occur to me sooner because I was genuinely enjoying the time we've been having and I only realized then that nothing was holding me back after he asked me that question.

That guy is now my boyfriend. 

Can I get your number?

18 hours after I became a girlfriend, a colleague asked for my number over dinner with a group of friends. That was the second time someone asked for my number in person and it was so awkward. Do I give him my number? Do I say that I'm in a relationship for 18 hours and counting? Lol

What are you doing here, little girl? Does your mother know you're here?

My Weekend at Anawangin Cove

Here goes another post of what I did last summer. I was lucky enough to have spent a whole weekend at Anawangin Cove with my closest friends in college and that it happened to be on my birthday!

We arrived at the cove late in the afternoon just in time to get settled in before the sun goes down. For those who don't know, Anawangin Cove is in Zambales and to get there you'll have ride a 20-30 minute boat ride from Pundaquit or a 6-7 hour trek through the range. It is a popular site for camping. No electricity, no cell signal. You get the picture. Nagsasa Cove and Capones Island are some of the few neighboring scenic places in the area as well.

If you want to do a photowalk, do it in Anawangin! After setting up our tents, we went around for a while and stumbled upon this swamp which immediately reminded me of the novel Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I can imagine her strange house surrounded by all these trees! Yay me I didn't forget to take panorama shots on my phone. Haha

  


Peculiar me

Far from all the pollution in the city, the night sky was 10 times more beautiful. We made a bonfire alright, but we left it and laid down on the beach to catch falling stars. We saw a lot and huge ones too! It was a lovely way to end my birthday.

The morning after that, Tom and I decided to follow our friends who were walking towards the coastline.

I though it was going to be "a romantic morning walk on the beach" but hell no. By the time we were with our friends, I found out that that "walk" was a "get a hold on that wall!" don't step on a slippery rock!" "watch out for that wave!"

If I only knew what we were getting into, I would've changed into a more proper attire and not wear sleepwear for trekking!

It was fun though! The beach on that side was secluded as it was a bit of a challenge to go to.

There is an actual trail for trekking in Anawangin Cove and since some of my friends didn't go with us that morning, they decided to go with us to the mountain at noontime. TuT It was really hot. 

But the view was worth it!!!

My Month of May

I know, I know. This post is almost 3 months late but I'm not going to let that stop me from talking about it because up to this date, it probably is the most interesting and pleasant month for me this year (besides the fact that it's my birth month)!

Just a quick recap since I have been MIA for the past five months. It all happened spontaneously but on the month of April, I decided to quit my job and book a ticket to Manila for a 40 days vacation which was then extended for another month. I was there for about 2 months and a half being with Tom, my friends and my family.  

It was honestly quite tough to get hold of everyone of our friends now that each of us has different schedules and plans unlike when we were still in college. So, mostly I spent my time with these two guys. Eating, watching them play tennis, playing Diablo, sleepovers, movies, it was all pretty chill. The break that I really needed. I mean, look at us surrounded by plush toys and that dog driving on EDSA! Chill right?

And even more, biking around and picking mangoes! That was actually the first time that I rode a bicycle with 2 wheels. I almost crashed because I was going too fast and I forgot the breaks. Hehe! Third photo is of my friends watching Pacquiao's fight on an iPad while on Facetime. Gotta do what you gotta do to support our country yo!

Quezon City Circle at dawn / Just me / My portable charging station aka my bag. This is actually the bag that I use every time I went out for a day in Manila. It is very spacious and can get really heavy especially when I'm with Tom since he always asks to put his stuff in my bag as well. (Please tell me your boyfriend does this too.)

Beach Before City

One of the first things on my agenda when I got back in the Philippines was to hit the beach with Tom and his high school friends.

 

You can never go wrong with the sun, beach and the sand whenever you're on vacation, right? 

Looking back at it now, I realized that that was my first trip outside Manila with friends!

We spent two days and one night at Morong, Bataan enjoying the warmth of the sun and the cold breeze from the aircon. Haha!
